Mise-en-Scene

In this picture, low-key lighting is being used. The lamp on the desk is the main source of light. The light is used so the person can see the blood that is on his face meaning that he could be hurt and is using a tissue to wipe the blood off.

In this image, low-key light is being used. The only source of light used is the street lights behind the car. The low-key light is used so we can see the person and the car which is facing our direction which may mean that he is looking at something behind the camera which we cannot see.

In this image, high-key lighting is being used. We can see this because of the light at the top of the ceiling. There also seems to be another light coming from somewhere else however it is not visible on the camera. The light is used to see the two people talking who both look surprised. 

 In this image, low-key lighting is being used. We can see this from behind the woman there is a lot of light coming out from the door. We can see that there are 3 people in the image 2 men and a woman having a conversation that looks like behind a a building.

Analysing Mise-En-Scene

In this picture, It looks like the conditions are very snowy, windy, and very cold and there is a lot of action going on. The explosion in the back also makes it look like an action film. The clothes that the man is wearing are very formal looking like he's working and the child is in a coat and looks like she's come from school. The facial expressions make it look like something has happened that we cannot see. The body language makes it seem like they could be scared of what is going on in the background and they are trying to get away from it as soon as possible. The colours around are very dull because of the weather and how cold it might be in that place. They are positioned towards the middle/right side of the image so the viewer can see the explosion and the mountains in the background.

In this image, it looks like a person who may be in a forest relaxing on a chair. He could be camping or something similar. He's just sitting down on his chair doing something on his laptop while looking up. He is wearing very casual clothes meaning that he is very chilled out. He is looking up which means that he could have seen nothing in the trees which is why he has that facial expression. The lighting and colours are very dull due to him being in this environment. The position he is in in the picture is on the left side so people can see the rest of the background in front of him.

In this image, it seems like a very good environment with the boy and girl both smiling and looking very happy. The clothes they are wearing look a bit old-fashioned and it looks like they could be on a date. The characters are set in the middle of the screen which could mean that they are the main focus and there's not much going on in the background other than the light.

In this image, the boy and girl are very close to each other which might mean they could be in some sort of romantic relationship. We can see that they both have some sort of snow on their heads which means that it could be set in the winter and it's very cold. The facial expressions are that they are both looking at each other deep in the eyes however they could be very cold as she does look cold. The colour in the picture is very blue-themed which could also show that it could be cold. We can't see what else is going on in the picture other than these two people which means that they are the centre of attention and the producer wants us to only focus on them.

Creative Magazine Designers

Alexey Brodovitch was a Russian-born American photographer, graphic designer and instructor. He was born in 1898 in Ogolichi, Russia (now Belarus), and he was raised in Moscow. He was known for being the art director of Harpers Bazaar. He played a massive role in the culture of modern design in the 20th century. He changed the visual effect of all magazines with his experimental style.

When he was young, he showed interest in art and began studying at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. However, due to the Russian Revolution in 1917, he was forced to move out of the country and go to Paris. When he arrived in Paris, He began his career in graphic design. He gained attention very quickly for his innovative style. The different shapes and vibrant colours made him stand out a lot. In 1923, he started working for the art magazine "L'Esprit Nouveau", where he collaborated with artists like Pablo Picasso and Constantin Brâncuși. In 1930 he moved to the United States accepting a post of a professor of advertising in Philadelphia. In 1934 he was appointed as the art director at Harper's Bazaar, the leading fashion magazine in the US. The role gave him the freedom to experiment with new ideas and change traditional magazine designs.

Being one of the largest music streaming services with millions of users worldwide, Spotify is the best place for music lovers to go and stream music. One of the main reasons that made Spotify a well-designed website is the navigation. The homepage is very clear and easy to use as users can easily navigate through different tabs to find their favourite music, discover new artists, and explore different genres. Spotify's website is good due to its perfect balance of simplicity and elegance. The layout is clean which allows easy browsing. The colour scheme is very good and provides users an option to have dark mode too for people who prefer having a darker background. The layout automatically adjusts to fit different screen sizes, ensuring that users can access the platform on any device, phone, tablet, or computer. Spotify is known for its personalised recommendations which sets it apart from other music streaming platforms. The platform uses algorithms to analyse user preferences and make recommendations. Then with this, they can suggest new music based on their listening recommendations.  

YouTube 

YouTube is an online video-sharing and social media platform known for its user-friendly interface and well-designed features. This is one of the main reasons why YouTube is so popular and is one of the most popular platforms worldwide. The homepage has a search bar at the top of the screen, making it easy to use wherever you are on the website. When you are on the home screen there is a feature below the search bar there is a feature where you can press and it will come up with videos that come under that heading such as music, sports, comedy and many more. YouTube provides lots of different accessibility features, such as captions and audio descriptions to help out users with disabilities. This makes sure everyone can enjoy the content depending on if they have a disability or not. Creating a YouTube video is really easy as YouTube makes it very simple to upload videos. It allows people to easily add titles, descriptions and tags to the video so people can find it. You can also schedule videos so you can choose a time and date your video comes out. The homepage shows a personalised feed based on what you have been recently watching so it recommends similar videos they think you will enjoy. You can also create your own playlists and save videos to watch them later. These features make it so YouTube is a good website and very easily accessible.

Amazon

Amazon is an American multinational technology company focusing on e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. It's well known for having a really well-designed website. It has a user-friendly interface, lots of different product selections, and excellent navigation. Amazon has changed the way people shop online. The website is designed in a way that makes it easy for you to navigate and find what you are looking for. The design and layout allow everyone to understand the purpose of the website and find the product you want in only a few clicks. Amazon offers a massive range of products meaning you can find anything and everything you want. The search bar at the top is useful if you want to find a certain product and will help you find what you need. When you search you can use the filter option to help find what you want whether you want to find a cheaper option or you want to the one with the highest reviews. Amazon also have a feature where you can see the reviews which is good because when you buy a product you will want to look at the reviews before you buy it so you know if it's good or not.

Craigslist

Craigslist is widely considered a poorly designed website for many and many reasons. Craigslist is considered one of the worst-designed websites because of its outdated and clunky interface. It also lacks visual appeal makes them not like the website so when they see it they don't really like it a lot and it looks confusing. Also, the fact there aren't any pictures could make people not like it. The way everything is all clunked together may put people off the website and not want to use it as they may be confused about how to use the website.

UX and UI Design

UX design is the process of creating a user-friendly experience for users. It involves understanding the target audience to test and change the designs. The goal of UX design is to create aesthetically pleasing digital products that are easy to use and also enjoyable. The way UX design works is that they get user research to understand user preferences. This research includes surveys and interviews. and feedback to identify what's wrong with the product. They do this so they can design a product that meets all user's expectations. Accessibility is also an important point of UX design, ensuring the product is accessible to all users no matter what. By continuously testing and refining the design, designers can ensure that the product is meeting the needs of its users and providing a delightful experience.

 The goal of UI design is to create an intuitive and user-friendly interface that enhances the user experience. UI design plays a vital role in creating a positive user experience. A well-designed user interface can make an application or website more engaging, informative, and visually appealing. It can also help users navigate the product with ease, leading to increased satisfaction and loyalty. The layout and structure of a user interface are crucial for usability and readability. It involves organising elements on the page in a way that makes sense and allows users to find information easily. Good UI design considers factors such as font size, colour, and spacing to create a visually appealing and well-organised layout. Typography is another important aspect of UI design. The choice of fonts, sizes, and styles can have a significant impact on how users perceive and interact with a product. UI designers must consider readability, clarity, and consistency when selecting typography for a user interface. Imagery can greatly enhance the visual appeal of a user interface. UI designers must choose appropriate images that support the product's message and align with the desired user experience. APP 

For my app, I decided to do it about The Wellcome Collection because I had many pictures of it and I had an interest in it so I decided to do my app about it. For my app, it is very suitable for my target audience as it is also very easy to use as well and you can find the information about the museum very clearly and easily. The software I used was adobe XD which helped me a lot as it is not that difficult to make an app on it. I found the software quite easy to use because the prototype option is very easy to use as its used to get from one page to another. The thing I could of done better was I should of added more pages to the app if I had more time, I also could of changed the colours of the app to make everything look better and maybe change the design of everything. One problem I had was the app icons at the bottom however i went on google and used some there so I can get all the icons I needed to use for my app.

                     

Magazine + Spread

For my magazine cover my topic was art. I used a photo that I took from the Wellcome Collection. I thought this was the best idea for my magazine cover because it is the most reasonable because it meets the topic focus on what I was doing. My magazine is aimed at everyone who likes museums and that are interested in the National Gallery and Wellcome Collection museums. After I chose the picture I thought I should think of an idea for the title for the magazine. I decided to make it art related because it would make sense to make it art related as it meets the theme of the picture. I decided to make the title Art This Week because it was the only thing I could think of and it makes sense for the whole plan of the magazine as i was going to write about the best art pieces of the week. I thought for the colours for the cover I will use black and white because it makes everything look a lot more interesting. For the tagline I decided to make it "Featuring The Best Art This Week". This is because it makes sense because my magazine spread is about the different art pieces and every week I talk about different art pieces. For the cover lines i wasnt sure what to write at first so i just decided to do something basic and write "most popular art pieces". I did this because I thought that it might get the attention of people and they would want to see about it. For my double page spread of the magazine I decided to put my own pictures of the Wellcome Collection and write some information about it because thats what my magazine theme was about. I used the title of my magazine in the top left of the spread too because i wanted to talk about the top art pieces of the week. I added lots of pictures to my magazine i decided to write information about all the art. The pictures I used i took my self and i used them because it might catch a readers attention because they are very interesting pictures and a reader might want to find out the origin of it and when it was made. For the right side of my magazine, I deciced to dedicate the whole page to one picture. This is because it was a very important picture and there was lots of information to write about it and a person who is interested in this kind of stuff will want to carry on reading about it and find out all the information about it.

Website Navigation

For my website I used Wix to design the website. I used a template for my website so it was easier to do my website and helped a lot with the website. I found a template that I liked and made it so i can change all the information on the website. For my website, I decided I wanted to make a shop of something that I have an interest in so I created a website that sells shoes. I decided to make the name "London ShoeHub" as we are a shoe shop that is based in London. For my template I decided to delete all the information that was already on it and changed it to my own ideas. I then changed the pages I wanted to use and i decided to make a home page, Shop, About us and Customer Service page. This is because it follows the theme of all the shopping websites that sell stuff like clothes or shoes. I changed the colour of the bar at the top to black and the writing at the top to white because i wanted that bit to be black and white and the rest of the website different other colours to make the design of everything look nicer.

For my home page I decided to keep it really simple and basic and I wanted to make my website really easy to navigate and use too. For the shopping page of my website, I made 3 different sections for it. I made Men, Women and Sale. This means that people can choose which one they want to see if they are a man or a woman. For the Sale it contains mens and women's shoes so everyone can see the shoes that are in the sale incase they want to get a discount. I decided to add a few shoes for each section so everyone can see the different shoes that I will sell on my website. For the About Us section i decided to write some information about our store. The address, the opening hours and some information about the store. On the customer service page theres a contact us place where you can email the store and write a message if there any issues that are wrong. Also on that page there is a FAQ where we answered some questions about our website and some information. Also theres a log in page which allows you to log into our website if you want. Theres also a cart so you can add some shoes to the basket and buy them.

SOUND DEFINITIONS.

Diegetic sound is sound that can be heard by characters in a film or a tv show. If a character can hear it that means that its diegetic. Some examples of diegetic sounds are dialogue, music, and object sounds.

Non-Diegetic sound is sound does not come from the films world and the characters cannot hear it. These sounds are always added in post production. Some examples of non-diegetic sounds are soundtracks, some sound effects and voiceover narration.

           

Foley sound is sound effects that are custom made in post-production. Its created to enhance the the audio in films and tv shows. Some examples of Foley sounds are breaking bones, squeaking doors, footsteps and more.

Soundtrack is the music that is set to a movie. Some soundtracks are recorded especially for a film, and others are made up of many songs from a range of different musicians.

 

Contrapuntal sound is sound that contrasts strongly with the image that is on screen. It is used to show the mood or tone of the scene.

 

ADR sound is the process of re-recording audio in a more controlled and quieter to improve the sound quality of an actors dialogue after they finish filming.
